Canadian Financial Regulation Consultant

Role Purpose and Overview:

As the leading global provider of technical and regulatory certification programmes to the Financial Services industry, Fitch Learning is recruiting consultancy roles to support our development of exam syllabuses, certification questions, and competency analysis, relating to the Canadian Financial Services industry.

This role is for a Subject Matter Expert to support with the following tasks relating to the development of exam product:

  • Analyze competency lists and client requirements in the context of Canadian Financial Services industry practice and make recommendations as to how they can be represented in exam syllabus coverage.
  • Design and develop exam content – most importantly the authoring of syllabuses and exam questions at the build phase.
  • Potentially attend regular exam committee meetings.

Role Type, Location, and Time Expectation:

This role is expected to be a part-time consultancy role compensated on a daily basis. However, we are open to a fixed term contract basis for specific cases.

This role is fully remote, and we welcome global applicants, though the ability to easily travel to Toronto or London for in-person meetings would be welcomed.

Time expectation is between 20-70 days of effort over the first coming twelve months, and the exact commitment would be discussed with potential applicants through the process.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Essential:
    • Knowledge of Canadian Financial Services: An understanding of the regulations, the markets, the firms that operate in those markets, and the employees that work for those firms. In particular, relating to one or more of the following areas and roles within Financial Services:
      • The Canadian Regulatory Environment
      • Retail Securities
      • Institutional Securities
      • Derivatives
      • Supervisory roles
      • Director and Executive roles
      • Trader roles
      • Chief Compliance Officer roles
      • Chief Financial Officer roles
    • A diligent approach focusing on high-quality exam content authoring.
    • Time to dedicate to the purpose of the task.
    • An appreciation of the exam governance approach.
  • Desirable:
    • Performed a role in the Canadian Financial Services industry.
    • Knowledge of professional or regulatory examinations. Understanding the purpose and expectations of the professional qualification within the wider context of competency. Understanding the format of the exam and what is possible to be tested in that format.
    • Experience of authoring content for professional or regulatory exams.
