Job description

Your candidacy is currently being considered for a position within an Alight Inc group company. After the transaction closes, this position will be aligned with the new Payroll & Professional Services owned by HIG Capital (the ‘Divested Group’). Job Description
  1. Oversee daily administration of tax filings for assigned legal entities, including distribution of tax remittances according to tax jurisdiction guidelines.
  2. Manage client delivery across Tax Filing Shared Services and work to mitigate escalations.
  3. Respond to inquiries from clients and client teams.
  4. Maintain strong reconciliation skills, particularly with tax codes and frequencies.
  5. Work with Canadian Taxing Agencies (CRA, RQ, Provinces).
  6. Handle agency notices to completion.
  7. Manage client-facing work and client management from a tax filing perspective.
  8. Complete year-end and amended filings as scheduled.
  9. Identify and resolve escalations or complex issues, focusing on patterns, trends, and root causes.
  10. Set up companies in the tax system.
  11. Test integration between payroll systems and tax filing systems.
  12. Conduct bank testing internally and with external clients.
  13. Liaise with payroll client teams and clients.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of Canadian payroll and/or Canadian payroll tax experience.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Canadian Taxation, especially in filing, reporting, and remittance.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize independently.
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including tables, pivot tables, formulas, etc.
  • Self-organized and proactive.
  • Capable of working under tight deadlines, with occasional evening work.
