Title : Payroll and compliance analyst (French Description to follow)
Reports to : Director of Payroll, ABK North America
As a payroll specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the complete payroll cycle for our Canadian-based entities in compliance with local regulations and company policies.
Core Job Responsibilities :
- Process recurring payroll while ensuring consistent timeliness and accuracy
- Collect personal information, employment and benefits data from HR systems / teams and third-party service providers (ex. : insurance & RRSP)
- Upload data to the employee profile in the payroll system
- Manage payroll system updates, test and validate to reflect changes arising from company policies or local regulations
- Consolidate time / absence data from HR system, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Process any other payroll inputs requests, such as one-time payments, stock-based compensation, taxable benefits or specific operations-related withholding
- Bring-in data to the payroll system, resolve exceptions and proceed with calculating payroll
- Review payroll results and process any required adjustments to pay slips before transmitting for payment
- Coordinate payroll remittance with our payroll system provider payment services
- Prepare and file any payroll deliverable required by local authorities and internal / external partners, such as T4 / RL1 summaries, worker’s comp. disclosure, benefits / RRSP update, payroll data for relocations providers, etc.
- Provide payroll-related support to employees, including preparing all communications related to payroll
- Participate in the payroll year-end process, including the preparation and distribution of year-end slips to employees
- Participate in the monthly closing of accounting records by providing reports and answering payroll-related questions from internal teams
Requirements & Experiences
- College degree (DEC) in administration, HR or accounting AND Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll administration
- Bachelor’s degree (BAC) in administration, human resources or labor and Industrial relations AND Minimum 1 year of experience in payroll administration
Additional / Preferred Qualifications
- Good knowledge of Canada & Quebec payroll-related laws and regulations
- Experience with Workday, UKG or other HR / payroll software
- Professional payroll certification (SCP, GAP or SCPQ)
- Basic proficiency in MS office Excel and manipulation of data
- Able to manage periods of busy work and priorities
- Thoroughness and attention to details
- Strong communication skills to interact with employees and internal / external partners across Canada and US
This can be a remote position but must be able to work Quebec hours and have strong knowledge of Quebec Payroll.
