Job description

Calling all Family Physicians!

The Prince Edward Family Health Team is an engaged group of 23 rural physicians in the naturally beautiful community of Prince Edward County. The County, as it is known locally, is one of Canada’s most sought-after rural communities, just 45 minutes from Kingston, 2.5 hrs from Toronto or 3 hours from Ottawa. We are looking for family physicians to join our team, with full Family Health Organization (FHO) spots available.

What We Offer:

  • Self-directed full-spectrum family medicine
  • $100K signing bonus
  • Collaborative care support from the Prince Edward Family Health Team
  • LMIA / work permit support

Job Requirements of the FHO:

  • Maintaining an office practice in Prince Edward County (in the towns of Picton or Wellington)
  • Providing coverage to inpatients at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) in Picton

Customize your practice model to suit you

Not many places can offer the same flexibility when it comes to practice options. Choose to augment your income by working in our small local Emergency Department at PECMH, in one of our 4 Long Term Care homes or at our local Hospice. If you’re not sure about ED work, we offer a paid ED mentorship program, led by senior physicians in a supportive environment. While ED work is optional, providing hospitalist coverage for approximately 3-4 weeks per year is required. It’s a lucrative supplement to your income, and Nurse Practitioners from our local Family Health Team cover your practice during your Hospitalist week at no cost! We have practice take-over and practice-partner opportunities available right now – with office and staff ready to go!

Our Team

We are a FHO connected in a collegial and passionate environment. We are incredibly supportive of each other and new grads, as many in our group teach family medicine residents from Queen's University (Kingston) and the University of Toronto. We are fortunate to be integrated with the Prince Edward Family Health Team (PEFHT), which provides more that 16 patient care programs such as mental health, diabetes education, cardiac rehab, lung health and smoking cessation, maternal and infant childcare, palliative care and much more. You will be equipped with a strong team of allied health professionals, including a Pharmacist, Dietician, Respiratory Therapist, Social Worker, Mental Health Counsellors, Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, all of which support a collaborative approach to your patients' care. In addition to clinical support, PEFHT offers IT and EMR support, with access to Accuro across the entire organization. Our Facilities

The community hospital, located in Picton, is part of a four-site hospital corporation, Quinte Health, with excellent access to specialists. Our hospital has 18 inpatient beds, a 24-hour ER, specialty clinics, and an endoscopy suite. Physicians in our community also have the option to staff long-term care facilities, and a three-bed residential hospice. Family physicians have several office space options available, with three complexes in Picton and one in Wellington. Perhaps the most exciting news is the announcement of our brand-new hospital, opening in 2027!
