Position Summary... Working as a Self‑Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers a great opportunity to build valuable skills in customer service and retail operations. The Self‑Checkout Attendant supports a positive shopping experience by providing friendly, helpful service and assisting customers as they complete transactions in the self‑service checkout area. What You'll Do

Maintain Self Checkout Area Standards. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized self checkout area, ensuring it remains free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and spills.



Promote Walmart Programs and Initiatives

Supports the promotion of company sponsored programs, including credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, when applicable.



Support Customers at Self Checkout

Helps customers use self checkout quickly and confidently by offering assistance when needed, monitoring activity, and completing required checks. Clearly explain any interventions in a friendly, reassuring way and escalates cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager.



Respond to EAS Alerts and Complete Documentation

Responds to EAS alarms in accordance with procedures and accurately completes the “Failure to Deactivate” log.



Manage Scan & Go Equipment

Ensures Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage locations after use.



Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule)


  • Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Your adaptability helps ensure the store runs smoothly and customers receive consistent, high-quality service.

  • Handles a fast‑paced workload with efficiency, ensuring large volumes of restocking and recovery are completed accurately and on time.



Physical Demands


  • Performs physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.

  • Performs repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with attention to detail and consistency to uphold store standards.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts from $17.75.
