Position Summary

The regulated pharmacy technician, as a healthcare professional, supports the pharmacist by managing all aspects of drug distribution that do not require the pharmacist's clinical knowledge, skills, and judgment.

What You'll Do

  • Receive new or repeat prescriptions, create and maintain patient records, and assess prescriptions for clarity, completeness, authenticity, and legal compliance.
  • Interpret prescriptions, including abbreviations, numerals, and symbols, and perform pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Accurately record prescription information in patient records.
  • Alert the pharmacist to potential or actual drug therapy problems.
  • Prepare non-sterile and sterile products, package, and label them to meet legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacist in product release, review prescriptions and patient records, and offer counseling to patients when needed.
  • Maintain inventory levels to ensure patient safety and operational efficiency, audit inventory, and report discrepancies, especially for controlled substances.
  • Assist patients with drug administration devices, diagnostic and monitoring devices, and other health aids.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Age 16 or older.
