Overview

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for all day-to-day activities affecting the people, operations, and merchandise in their division. The Pharmacy Manager must also ensure the Pharmacy operates according to Walmart policy, professional standards, and provincial and federal regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Pharmacy and OTC teams including participation in the recruitment and interviewing of candidates, training all associates on OBWs/SOPs and Walmart workflow, and ensuring their execution.
  • Develop, assess, motivate and retain team members. Promote Walmart's brand to team members and customers.
  • Develop functional and collaborative relationships with the Prof Services District Manager, Store Management team, and Store Manager.
  • Operate Pharmacy to achieve established plans and budgets. Manage efficient scheduling, ongoing associate assessment, and periodic performance reviews.
  • Develop and execute business action plans to meet corporate goals and develop corrective action plans based on deficiencies identified in reports (P&L, FSA visits, POAs, etc.) or by audits and DM visits.
  • Maintain accurate inventories in the Pharmacy by following OBWs/SOPs (receiving inventory management, disposal of expired products), address customer complaints, and resolve customer problems to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintain the professional appearance of the Pharmacy area per Workstation Standardization and 6S Audit. Cascade communications from the SSC to all Pharmacy associates and OTC.
  • Execute all programs assigned to the Pharmacy by the Prof Services team.
  • Develop and establish collaborative relationships with other health care providers within the store (clinics, Vision Centre, their community, etc.). Ensure that Pharmacy is open and operational during posted business hours. Supervise and support the OTC manager in their duties. Ensure excellent patient experience and locate merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Establish and develop strong working relationships with Professional Services District Managers and other stakeholders.
  • Accept prescriptions and/or refill requests from Customers, Doctors or Hospitals. Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely using the established workflow models and counsel all patients on sold pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products. Execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs.
  • Operate all pharmacy equipment (register, computer system, etc.). Protect and maintain patient privacy at all times and follow provincial regulations established by the regulatory body. Ensure patients receive all eligible services they are entitled to (medication reviews, injections, etc.) to meet specific patient needs. Ensure that Pharmacy is open and operational during posted business hours.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Age: 16 or older
  • License: Pharmacist License (secondary optional permit in Alberta: CA_APA - Additional Prescribing Authorization)
