Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties to increase the Pharmacist’s opportunity to provide patient care. The Pharmacy Assistant is expected to participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations required of a team player and is a key member in the delivery of superior customer service.

What you’ll do
  • Receive prescriptions from patients, assess prescription completeness, and prioritize prescriptions with 21st Century Guidelines.
  • Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price check, patient information entry/update, and report generation.
  • Fill prescriptions under the Pharmacist’s supervision, selecting appropriate products, performing the accuracy program, and labeling and organizing for pharmacist checking.
  • Maintain inventory control, assist Pharmacist in maintaining stock levels, check and pull expired medications monthly, and order drugs and supplies as needed.
  • Perform general housekeeping, stock prescription filling supplies, keep the dispensary clean and organized, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Clerical organization, file prescriptions, invoices, reports, correspondence and memos, and complete any administrative support functions assigned.
  • Assist with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, cashier duties as assigned by OTC Manager and/or Pharmacist.
