Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties to enhance the Pharmacist's ability to provide patient care. They participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations required of a team player and are key in delivering superior customer service.

What you'll do
  1. Receive prescriptions from patients, following provincial legal/regulatory conditions, and assess for completeness (Name, Address, DOB, Allergies, 3rd Party Info, Special Requests, Prescriber, Generic/Brand, Prioritization based on 21st Century Guidelines).
  2. Perform computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, patient information updates, interpretation of prescriptions, refills, report generation, and profile checks.
  3. Fill prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, select appropriate products, perform accuracy checks, label and organize for pharmacist verification, and facilitate cognitive services.
  4. Maintain inventory control by monitoring stock levels, checking for expired medications, managing returns, ordering drugs and supplies, and organizing pharmacy shelves.
  5. Conduct general housekeeping, stock supplies, keep the dispensary clean and organized, and maintain equipment and work environment safety.
  6. Perform clerical tasks such as filing prescriptions, invoices, reports, and administrative support functions.
  7. Assist with OTC operations, including ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned.
