Job description

Position Summary

The Learning Designer supports the Senior Manager, Learning Design in the development, research, design, and evaluation of new training programs as well as the redesign of existing ones. The role collaborates with the Learning Project Manager, business stakeholders, project teams, the systems implementation team, and Walmart Academy Facilitators throughout the design, content development, and implementation lifecycle. They also handle urgent content update requests, provide learning consultation, and manage ad hoc requests as needed. The learning design function is guided by an evolving SLA focused on user experience and measurable training effectiveness. The Learning Designer will develop and enhance associate capabilities using the ADDIE instructional design methodology (Assess, Develop, Design, Implement, Evaluate) with blended learning solutions.

What you'll do
  1. Assess, design, develop, and implement sustainable blended learning and knowledge management solutions that enhance learner experience, increase retention, and offer flexible learning options.
  2. Audit, leverage, and adapt learning materials from Walmart Canada teams and global partners.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure learning solutions meet business needs, align with best practices, and drive performance.
  4. Apply instructional design and digital media expertise to create blended learning solutions that foster positive user experiences and behavior change.
  5. Develop learning outcomes and measure effectiveness using Level 1-4 evaluation metrics, providing reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  6. Manage external learning vendors and oversee project management of externally developed solutions when applicable.
  7. Maintain and update existing documentation and content to ensure accuracy and technical validation.
  8. Stay informed about industry trends and recommend innovations to modernize Walmart's learning functions.
