Position Summary

A Dairy/Frozen Department Manager coordinates the merchandise and activities of Associates in a department(s) of a Wal-Mart store through modular integrity, perpetual inventory, merchandise management, and customer service, while maintaining exemplary customer service by adhering to the Basic Beliefs and values of Wal-Mart.

What you'll do

1. Assist the management team in supervising the department, including mentoring and training staff, delegating tasks, recognizing and supervising the work of part-time Associates, communicating effectively with team members.
2. Order merchandise in a timely manner.
3. Eliminate pricing errors (e.g., optical reading accuracy program).
4. Adhere to standards and guidelines related to cold chain compliance, thermometer calibration, temperature recording, food handling, product rotation, and expiration dates.
5. Follow food safety and handling procedures, including cleaning and sanitation protocols.
6. Follow proper procedures for price increases, markdowns, price changes, signage, tags, liquidation, competitor price checks, and displays.
7. Address customer complaints, review returned merchandise, and resolve issues to maintain and promote good public relations.
8. Manage department budgets, including those for pouring and other operational costs.
