Job summary

Walmar in Canada’s Town of Hinton, AB is seeking an entry-level General Merchandise Associate. The role focuses on customer service, product promotion, and assisting with merchandising and store operations to ensure a smooth customer experience.

You will greet customers, help locate merchandise, promote products, and support scheduling, training, and safety tasks. The position starts at a minimum hourly rate and offers growth through coaching and performance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent Customer Service by greeting all customers in a polite and friendly manner, assisting customers by promoting products/services, locating merchandise and making purchase decisions, resolving customer issues and referring concerns where appropriate.
• Assists in providing direction and the co-ordination of task completion as per communicated priorities from the General Merchandise Coach and the Store Management Team.
• Delegates, assists and follows-up on completion of daily Customer Availability process tasks.
• Assesses the overall presentation of General Merchandise Departments and appearance, noting deficiencies for corrective action and executing merchandising display changes where required.
• Ensures strong communication with associates, leads the daily Team Huddle at the start of each shift and provide the team with updates, set goals, and track productivity.
• Reviews completed schedules with People Lead.
• Assigns Associates to support with coverage and availability tasks in all areas of the store.
• Tours assigned areas with the Coach and team associates to validate and identify training opportunities.
• Develops associates through teaching and training and provides feedback as needed
• Contributes to a safe, clean and hazard free work environment through adherence to Company policy and procedures, including the completion of safety sweep logs and ensuring displays and fixtures are secure and free of debris.
• Completes GTA/Workday tasks and supports Management.
• Partners with Coach/People Lead to facilitate performance management and growth conversations for Associates.
• Supports recruiting and hiring new associates.
