Position Summary

To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.

What you'll do

  1. Drive sales and manage financials: As a member of the Store Management Team, achieve sales and profit goals, manage budgets, and develop sales forecasts. Analyze sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
  2. Create operational plans: Collaborate with the Management Team to prioritize, delegate, and provide clear directions to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness, focusing on specific areas such as Front End, Back End, Fresh, or Operations. Cross-train Assistant Managers to work proficiently across all store areas.
  3. Ensure safety and asset protection: Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls, maintain quality assurance standards, oversee safety and operational reviews, and ensure compliance with Walmart policies and procedures, including safety, security, sales, financial, and record-keeping practices. Proactively address compliance issues, including Total Loss controls.
  4. Customer service: Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving customer issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service techniques among associates.
  5. Community involvement: Support store initiatives by participating in community events, developing relationships with key community groups, and engaging in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts to reinforce the store's role in the community.
  6. Lead and develop associates: Conduct regular store meetings, communicate operational directions, and focus on OMNI and Total Store initiatives. Drive engagement, recognize achievements, and provide professional growth opportunities. Identify high-potential associates and offer training to enhance capabilities.
  7. Performance management: Demonstrate Company values by providing timely, honest, and respectful feedback, and managing performance through corrective and disciplinary actions. Build relationships with supporting functions within the store and district, such as District HR Managers.
  8. Handle merchandise and cash controls: Comply with all standards and procedures when handling merchandise, including alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items. Ensure proper cash controls, handling up to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars daily.
