Position Summary: To support the Store Manager in managing store operations according to Company guidelines, lead Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service, and drive profitable store sales. Plays an active role in professional development, along the path to becoming a Store Manager.
What you'll do:
- Drive profitable sales: As a member of the Store Management Team, achieve sales and profit goals, manage budgets, and forecast sales. Analyze sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
- Operational planning: Create operational plans with the support of the Store Manager; prioritize, delegate, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs, evaluate their effectiveness, monitor inventory, and address inventory flow issues.
- Asset protection and safety: Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews, ensuring compliance with Walmart policies and safety procedures. Address compliance issues proactively, including Total Loss control.
- Customer service: Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly customer service techniques among associates.
- Community involvement: Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in events and developing relationships with community groups. Engage in company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts to emphasize the store's community role.
- Leadership and development: Lead and develop Assistant Managers, drive engagement, recognize accomplishments, and provide growth opportunities. Identify high-potential associates and provide training to enhance capabilities. The expectation is that a Co-Manager can progress to act as Store Manager in the near term.
- Company values and relationships: Demonstrate company values by providing performance feedback and corrective actions to Assistant Managers. Build relationships with supporting functions within the store and district, such as HR Managers.
- Technology adaptation: Adapt to changes in retail technology. Oversee the implementation of digital applications, and train the management team on new OMNI processes and customer requirements.
