Job summary

Walmart Canada is seeking a Bakery Associate in Truro, NS to provide outstanding customer service while maintaining the Bakery Department. You will help with stocking, pricing, and ensuring product quality and safety in a fast-paced retail environment.

This role requires attentiveness to temperature control and sanitation, along with accurate labeling and signage to ensure a clean, safe, and inviting bakery section for shoppers.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and zones the Bakery Department; ensures quality and visual appearance of bakery merchandise (bread, cakes, pies, cookies, rolls).
• Keeps department fully stocked and properly signed and priced.
• Follows cold chain, thermometer calibrations, temperature records, food handling, product rotation, sell-by and expiration dates.
• Adheres to food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Performs ordering, clearance, markups/markdowns, signing/flagging/pricing/labels as required.
• Prepares bakery items following thawing and baking guidelines to ensure quality and visual appeal.
• Ensures all displays are secured safely.

What you’ll do…

1. Ensures the quality and visual appearance of Bakery Department merchandise; such as bread, cakes, pies, cookies, and rolls.
2. Ensures that department is fully stocked with merchandise and is ready for business.
3. Ensures the merchandise is properly signed and priced.
4. Adheres to standards and policies for cold chain compliance, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, food handling, product rotation, sell-by dates, and expiration dates.
5. Adheres to food safety and handling procedures and following sanitation and cleaning procedures.
6. Follows proper procedures for; Ordering, clearance, markups/markdowns, signing/flagging/pricing/labels.
7. Prepares bakery merchandise by accurately following thawing and baking guidelines to ensure the quality and visual appearance of Bakery Department merchandise, such as bread, cakes, pies, cookies, and rolls.
8. Ensures all displays are secured in a safe and proper manner.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts from $17.20.
