ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This role reports to the Manager, Planning & Sustainability within the Campus & Community Planning department.

SUMMARY

This role is to provide special project support to the CCP team in several key strategic projects relating to Sustainability initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategic Energy Management Plan ("SEMP") - providing project support to the Sustainability team in its contributions towards the Strategic Energy Management Plan ("SEMP").
  2. CCP Office of Sustainability Website Update Project - will work with and support the Sustainability team with website content updates, and refreshing the pages with new content implementation.
  3. KPU Sustainability Engagement Project - provide support to the Sustainability team in their engagement efforts with various key parties at KPU. This position will assist with the creation of engagement materials, event briefs, and supporting the Sustainability team with miscellaneous project coordination tasks.
  4. STARS Assessment Project - provide support in advancing KPU's enrolment in the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System ("STARS") Program, including databasing the academic course availability at KPU, and matching the Sustainable Development Goals ("SDG") using the SDG Mapping Report.
  5. BC Hydro Commercial Energy Management Program - supporting the Sustainability team in various projects related to its ongoing participation in the BC Hydro Commercial Energy Managers Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Completion of a bachelor degree in urban and/or community planning, sustainability, political science, or public policy development/research is preferred or at least two years of post-secondary education or a combination of equivalent education, training, and experience.
  2. At least 2 years' previous experience working in a planning, sustainability or policy/research related field; previous experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
  3. A sound knowledge of the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals.
  4. A demonstrated ability, either through work experience or through classwork, to prepare and present professional-level reports, conduct research, and participate in campus-wide discussions.
  5. An understanding of the principles, best practices, strategies, and objectives related to environmental sustainability and climate action (both mitigation and adaptation); equity, diversity and inclusion; and Indigenous reconciliation.
  6. Experience with coordinating public engagement activities, including the preparation of engagement materials, participation at events, and the summarization of survey results.
  7. Demonstrated working knowledge of graphic design processes and software, including Adobe InDesign.
  8. Demonstrated intermediate level of competency using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and SharePoint.
  9. Demonstrated working knowledge of KPU programs, policies and business processes.

Anticipated Hourly Rate: $25.28
