Job summary

Duties And Responsibilities

The Campus Facilities Planning Manager serves as a subject matter expert in planning and space management. The role supports the Assistant Director in identifying opportunities, conducting analyses, and leading feasibility studies to address the evolving needs of teaching, research, and administrative functions across faculties and departments, in alignment with the University’s mission and values. The position contributes to both strategic and tactical planning by developing immediate and mid-term solutions while ensuring alignment with the University’s long-term strategic vision.

The Campus Facilities Planning Manager leads a team of space and asset management professional staff and advances planning initiatives through data-informed decision-making, risk management, and a focus on continuous improvement. The role ensures the effective, efficient, and strategic use of university space and assets to support institutional priorities.

Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex space data
  • Knowledge of municipal, and provincial building codes and regulations
  • Stays abreast of updates and changes to building codes
  • Familiarity with construction methods and contract delivery
  • Experience in developing estimates for project budgeting
  • Knowledge in developing project schedules and construction sequences
  • Ability to identify potential risks in the planning stage and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Understanding of various building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Experience in interior space planning, programming, layout design, with the ability to apply creative planning solutions, and resolve complex space utilization problems.
Education And Experience
  • Completion of bachelor’s degree a relevant discipline such as architecture, engineering, or planning. Project Management Certification will be preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in facilities planning, space planning, campus planning, at the management or leadership role. Experience in higher education sector would be highly preferred
