• Assist with inventory and quarterly pantry/freezer reviews.
• Oversee the Camp canteen and food services operations with summer staff.

Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

This position maintains Pine Lake Camp (PLC) as a viable rental facility during the off-season and promotes the camp's profile within the community. This position is also responsible for the required correspondence related to bookings and rentals for the off-season, as well as Summer RV Park bookings and correspondence. This position also coordinates the food services operations for the camp, to ensure compliance with the Canada Food guide and with applicable health regulations. While all position responsibilities are done year-round, particular emphasis is placed on camp activities during the summer.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Overall Hospitality & Property

• Promote and support the mission and vision of TSA within the context of PLC.
• Responsible with the Camp Management Team in carrying out the strategic plan and achieving the vision for the camp.
• Assist the Camp Management Team in the preparation of the annual PLC budget by providing information when requested.
• Together with the Property Manager, oversee the day-to-day operations of PLC, including identifying and resolving risk management situations, ensuring the protection, security and peaceful enjoyment of PLC property.
• Participate in all PLC Management Team meetings.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, ensure that the accreditation requirements of The Salvation Army, the Alberta Camping Association and the Christian Camping Association are consistently met including any government regulations and laws.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, conduct risk assessment as required, make recommendations and implement preventive measures.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, hire, orientate, train, evaluate, recognize and recommend disciplinary actions including termination in concert with Territorial/Divisional standards.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, ensure direct reports complete the mandatory training and e-learnings within the set time frame and constantly review the skills and competencies of staff to adequately meet the requirements of the job.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team ensure that the camp remains in good operating order, and that a high level of appearance is maintained.
• In consultation with the Camp Property Manager assist with property upkeep and enhancement of buildings and grounds.
• Together with the Head Cook, take inventory of pantry and freezers before each order day, and complete quarterly reviews/clean-up of pantry and freezers.

TSA Camping (i.e., Summer Camping Ministry/Fuse/Men's Camp/Women's Camp)

• Ensure that PLC consistently strives to provide guests with a high level of service and overall value.
• Assist the Camp Management Team in providing oversight, orientation and training of kitchen and housekeeping staff, focusing on developing skills with new staff.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, provide encouragement, instruction, and ongoing feedback for performance management to kitchen staff while maintaining professionalism and a respectful work environment.
• Ensure that the Head Cook can provide training and supervision, including mentorship, to summer kitchen staff.
• In consultation with the Camp Management Team, purchase necessary administrative, housekeeping and food services supplies.
• In consultation with a registered dietician, ensure appropriate menu-planning in accordance with Canada's Food Guide and food-ordering in coordination with other divisional leadership for kitchen and canteen orders as necessary.
• Ensure proper food storage and kitchen cleanliness before groups arrive and when they leave.
• Assist Head Cook by providing guidance and help with problem solving, portion control, and waste management.
• In consultation with Camp Management Team, ensure canteen stock is maintained, and supply orders are completed accordingly.
• Manage and operate the canteen with assistance from summer staff.
