The ability to listen to others, communicate clearly, observe others’ actions, read text and information, comprehend instructions and manuals, and maintain the physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.

Job Requirements:
Program and Staff Development
Ensure that programming reflects camp goals
Hire additional staff as required by camper numbers
Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service trainings
Prepare, in conjunction with staff, a detailed schedule of themes and activities for all weeks of camp
Order Morning Watch and Bible Exploration materials in alignment with Camp CedarRidge’s philosophy and statement of faith
Ensure that camper registrations are complete and all paperwork is on file and signed during check-in
Administer background checks for staff members

Administration
Schedule and conduct on-site inspections with fire inspectors, health inspectors, and others as required
Remain in good standing with regard to standing orders, permits, and site and program regulations
Maintain site cleanliness before, throughout, and following the camp season
Maintain accreditation with the American Camp Association
Oversee vehicle upkeep, work weekend activity, and construction projects
Keep current with camping trends through the ACA, CCCA, and ACC
Communicate camper health requirements to food service supervisor and health officer
Set and supervise office procedures and opening and closing day procedures for campers and staff
Develop routines, schedules, and procedures for camp operation
Supervise day-to-day operations of the programs and staff. Ensure adherence to governing regulations
Prepare an evaluation and summary of the current camping season, including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports, injury reports, and recommendations for the following season
Define and monitor crisis management plan – including emergency procedures
Organize and/or approve trips out of camp for program, supplies, and crisis management
Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers
Establish and maintain an atmosphere of good morale, spirituality, and well-being among the camp family
Negotiate and upkeep contracts, including but not limited to food delivery, horse rental, and garbage pickup
Coordinate purchase of Tuck Shop supplies, craft supplies, health center supplies, Bibles, and camper follow-up materials

Other Duties
Other duties should be performed as assigned or required, including but not limited to fundraising and marketing, involvement in professional associations, or work related to the broader vision of camping
Director will be expected to live on camp property from May 15-September 1

Scope of Authority
Has responsibility and authority for planning, organizing, implementing, correcting problems, and handling the success and failure of all aspects of the job function as determined by the job description, camp goals, and budget

Accountability
Contribute to the accomplishment of HFCC’s goals
Serve as an ex officio member of the camp board and the camp operation committee
Reports to the board of directors, specifically through the president, and attends board meetings
Work with the board in planning for the efficient operation of camp: registration, business management, opening and closing camp, inventories, menus, etc.
Give vision to the board for future direction regarding program, use of facilities, and site development
Evaluate the goals and camper development objectives in preparation for the annual evaluation
Plan and implement with the board:
- Annual camp goals
- Camp operation budget
- Promotional literature and activities
- Policies and procedures
- Camp program
Recruit, train, and supervise all camp staff:
- Develop a recruitment plan
- Prepare job descriptions and staff agreements
- Plan and implement pre-camp and in-camp training
- Communicate goals, camper development objectives, policies, and procedures
- Develop an administrative structure to effectively supervise and evaluate camp staff
- Participate in training provided by the camp board
- Maintain hiring practices consistent with FIA/ACA standards
