What the role is all about:

The Haig Camp Attendant is responsible for a variety of duties including helicopter management, grooming, cooking, drinking, grey water management, solar electrical, propane heating, and general building maintenance. While these skills can be learned, the key to success is the ability to work well with others, including coaches and athletes, and to prioritize and manage stressful situations.

Work environment: The work environment is remote and away from civilization, which may not suit everyone.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain facilities in a safe and clean condition according to health and safety standards and WinSport policies.
  • Manage loading, unloading, and helicopter operations.
  • Provide housekeeping, cleaning, grooming, and meal preparation services.
  • Monitor and repair mechanical, water, and electrical systems as needed.
  • Ensure safety of athletes and coaches at camp and on the glacier.
  • Communicate effectively with WinSport staff at BWTC.
  • Contribute to WinSport Canada's image of inclusiveness, integrity, reliability, respect, courtesy, and excellence.
  • Perform additional tasks as outlined by the BWTC Manager.
  • Adhere to safety policies and report hazards.
  • Review safety notices and meeting minutes.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • Ability to multi-task.
  • First aid and CPR certifications.
  • Food safe certification (online).
  • Knowledge of Nordic sport requirements is an asset; driving a Snow Cat will be trained.
  • Experience in remote camps, food prep, and facility management.
  • Experience in mountain and glacial environments.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Maintenance and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of solar, electrical, propane, and plumbing systems is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Respond to inquiries and problems promptly.
  • Safety conscious.
