AVI Nanaimo is located on Victoria Road, just outside of downtown.

Physicians will work in collaboration with nurses, care coordinators, system navigators, support workers, educators, peer support workers, and counsellors to provide wrap-around supports and holistic care.

The program has been operating since 2021 and has demonstrated positive outcomes on the health and wellbeing of participants. The program integrates with our addiction medicine/OAT practice and participants can move seamlessly between the programs depending on need and acuity.

  1. Assessment and provision of Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT)

  3. Primary care for people living with HIV
  4. Screening and assessment of STIs and viral blood-borne illnesses
  5. Assessment and prescribing of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for patients to manage risk of HIV
  6. Other primary care for acute and chronic medical conditions
  7. Clinical Management of HIV course is an asset

Billing for MSP and MPRSD is handled by clinic staff and patient volumes are set in collaboration with the physician.
