CALL FOR APPLICATIONS II THIRDSPACE: Emerging Artist Summer Intensive Program - OCAD U

A month-long residency program at OCAD University that brings together a dynamic group of interdisciplinary emerging artists, including those in the early stages of their careers and those embarking on new directions in their creative practices.

Guided by an established Toronto-based, internationally recognized artist-in-residence, you will deepen and expand your work within a thematic framework. This immersive program offers unique opportunities to explore art, culture, and the environment in and around Toronto, and includes a month of open studio access and final exhibition showcasing the innovative work you develop throughout the program.

In this residency, you will:

  1. Develop Technical and Conceptual Skills: Participants will advance their technical skills and deepen their conceptual understanding through guided practice, discussion, and field trips to local cultural spaces, culminating in the production of new work that reflects their unique artistic voice.
  2. Expand Professional Networks and Collaborative Practices: Participants will build professional connections within the art community, with potential to engage in collaborative projects and networking opportunities that foster relationships with peers, mentors, and industry professionals.
  3. Strengthen Artistic Practice through Reflection and Experimentation: Participants will critically reflect on their creative processes, exploring new techniques, mediums, and approaches that challenge and expand their current artistic practice.

This program is for you if you are:

  • A current undergraduate or graduate student
  • A practicing artist in the early stages of your career
  • A practicing artist exploring new directions in your practice.

Key dates:

Application opens: Early December (TBD)
Early bird deadline: February 14th, 2025 (Save $200 off tuition)
Final application deadline: May 13th, 2025
Program dates: Monday, June 2nd – Friday, June 27th, 2025, with recommended arrival and departure dates are Sunday, June 1st and Saturday, June 29th, 2025.

Price: CAD $4,600.00 + applicable taxes. Accommodation, transportation, and meals are not included.
Price with accommodation: CAD $7,450 + applicable taxes. Transportation and meals are not included.
