Job Description

The Calibration Specialist will handle quality functions related to equipment and operations in the Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories. Reporting to the Calibration Specialist/QA Manager, responsibilities include performing qualifications and calibrations, maintaining data integrity, and training staff on laboratory instruments. Technical competence, especially with laboratory equipment and software, is essential.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Familiarity with Agilent and PE systems
  • Knowledge of Health Canada and FDA Data Integrity requirements
  • Navigation through compliance software
  • Preparation and execution of qualification protocols (OQ/PQ)
  • Preparation of Preventative Maintenance and Calibration procedures
  • Installation qualifications and OQ/PQ on lab equipment
  • Maintenance of VMP and equipment lists
  • Participation in audits
  • Coordination with contractors for maintenance and repairs
  • Evaluation and reporting of qualification data
  • Training staff on equipment and techniques
  • Installation and qualification of new equipment
  • Executing calibration and maintenance schedules
  • Monitoring system temperature deviations and investigations
  • Responding to alarms and troubleshooting
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science field; other science degrees considered
  • Experience in a contract laboratory
  • High technical competence
  • Thorough knowledge of GMP
