    The Calibration Specialist will be responsible for helping in handling all quality functions as they relate to the equipment and physical operations of the Chemistry and Microbiology laboratories. Reporting to the Calibration Specialist/QA Manager, the Calibration Specialist performs the qualifications and calibrations on equipment issued to the lab, maintains/ ensures the data integrity requirements as per the company's procedures. The position involves setting up instruments according to their manual specifications therefore a high level of technical competence is required. This position also entails training other employees on these instruments with the help and under the supervision of the Calibration Specialist.

    Key Accountabilities for this Role:

    • Be familiar with the Agilent and PE systems;
    • Have enough knowledge about the Health Canada and the FDA's requirements for Data Integrity;
    • Being able to navigate through different software to ensure compliance to Data Integrity; requirements as per the company's procedures.
    • Prepare, write and execute qualification (OQ/PQ) protocols for instrumentation;
    • Prepare and write Preventative Maintenance and Calibration procedures;
    • Perform installation qualifications and OQ/PQs on all applicable laboratory equipment;
    • Maintain VMP and equipment lists;
    • Play an active role in internal and external audits;
    • Contact contractors for outside PM and instrument repairs;
    • Evaluate and summarize instrumentation qualification data in final reports;
    • Train employees on laboratory equipment and techniques;
    • Install and qualify new equipment with the help and under the supervision of the Calibration Specialist;
    • Executing calibration and preventative maintenance schedules for all applicable laboratory equipment;
    • Conducting temperature deviation investigations and record keeping;
    • Responding to the monitoring system alarms even after working hours if necessary;
    • Create trendings for monitoring systems;
    • Follow safety procedures within the labs and follow company policies;
    • Troubleshoot and respond quickly when problems arise.
      • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemistry-related degree or Diploma would be preferred, but other science-related degrees or Diplomas will be considered;
      • Experience in a contract laboratory;
      • A high level of technical competence;
      • Thorough knowledge of GMP.

      • Must speak and write English fluently;
      • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders;

      • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail;

      Technical Skills

      • Exceptional computer skills with a high level of competence with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and working with other databases;
      • Experience in working with various lab equipment.
