Job summary

gpac is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate for a Calgary law firm, offering exposure to diverse disputes and opportunities to develop advocacy skills in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of litigation experience, strong drafting/research skills, and is in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta. This role provides mentorship and a path to increasing responsibility on meaningful client matters.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of litigation experience
• Strong interest in commercial litigation and dispute resolution
• Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities
• Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta

Responsibilities

• Assist with and manage litigation files from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, and other court materials
• Conduct legal research and prepare written arguments
• Attend chambers applications, discoveries, mediations, and court appearances
• Work directly with clients and opposing counsel
• Support senior litigators on complex commercial disputes
• Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal advice
