Calgary Co-op (“The Co-op”) has been serving the local community since 1956 when it opened its first store in collaboration with local farmers and ranchers to provide fresh, farm-to-table foods—long before the term became widely recognized. Headquartered in Calgary, the organization prioritizes sourcing food from within the city, across Alberta and throughout Western Canada whenever possible. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership and direction to Calgary Co-op. The CEO has overall management responsibility for all co-op operations, across the various lines of business, including member services, human and financial resources, marketing and financial performance, and community and stakeholder relations. The CEO is responsible for collaborating with the Board to develop the strategic plan and actioning the right initiatives to achieve that strategy. The CEO is to operate in a manner which demonstrates dedication to the mission, vision, and values of the Co-op.
The ideal candidate is a successful, consumer-facing business leader demonstrating high emotional intelligence with a reputation for operating and leading an organization of similar complexity through growth and evolution. Experience in retail, member-owned, multiple lines of business, real estate and / or services is beneficial. Equipped with outstanding interpersonal skills, the ideal candidate brings a track record of innovation and financial stewardship that will enable profitable and sustainable growth and change.
