Position Overview

EY’s multidisciplinary Business Tax Incentives (BTI) team, a key part of our Business Tax Services practice, specializes in credits and grants related to discretionary incentives, sustainability, capital investments, and scientific research and experimental development (SRED). We work with companies of all sizes across various industries to maximize their tax benefits and achieve business objectives. We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our Calgary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in tax policy and understand the economic drivers of Canada’s clean energy transition, focusing on the Government of Canada’s Clean Economy Investment Tax Credits (ITCs).
• Assist clients in assessing project eligibility, optimizing tax strategies, and advancing clean energy initiatives, including projects involving photovoltaic systems, wind energy, and energy storage.
• Review financial summaries, classify costs into appropriate CCA classes, and ensure legislative compliance.
• Analyze investment costs for tax credit eligibility and interpret technical project details in collaboration with engineers.
• Draft technical analyses, legislative references, and support client tax positions.
• Mentor junior staff, stay updated on legislative developments, and identify opportunities for additional tax services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, or relevant discipline.
• 4+ years’ experience in SRED or Canadian corporate tax.
• Professional credentials such as CPA, Master’s in Taxation, or equivalent are an asset.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
