Job description

WSP is looking for a full time Concrete Laboratory Technician in our Calgary office. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to develop their career and experience in the engineering and materials laboratory field.

A day in the life…

Responsibilities will include conducting various tests on concrete, cement and cementitious (fly ash, silica fume, slags, natural pozzolan samples) in a laboratory environment. This assignment is excellent for those individuals that want to be a part of a team network in a materials laboratory setting.

This position will require working on multiple projects simultaneously and requires strong scheduling and organizational skills, in addition the incumbent will:

  • Conduct physical concrete laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM/CSA applicable standards.
  • Prepare reports and data entry.
  • Prepare samples to submit to various subcontractors for proficiency and other testing purposes.
  • Follow WSP’s Project Review, Ethics and Safety Policies.
  • Participate in 3rd party audits and proficiency testing on a yearly basis.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the laboratory.

If your preference is to work in the lab, and have had enough of working in the field, this is the job for you! Say goodbye to rain days, and testing in cold weather. Hours are stable year round, and there will be some overtime from time to time.
