Job summary

Metro is seeking a Cake Decorator for a permanent part-time role at our Brampton bakery. Bring creativity to decorate cakes and desserts, meet customer requests, and support the bakery team to ensure quality and presentation.

You will decorate according to recipes, label and package finished products, maintain a clean workstation, follow food safety rules, and contribute to a positive shopping experience for customers during days, evenings and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Decorate cakes and other bakery products according to customer requests and company standards.
• Prepare icings, fillings, and decorative elements following recipes and guidelines.
• Write personalized messages on cakes neatly and accurately.
• Ensure all decorated products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Assist with packaging and labeling finished products.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, tools, and decorating equipment.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Monitor inventory levels of decorating supplies and notify management when items need replenishment.
• Assist customers with cake orders, including providing recommendations and taking custom requests.
• Support stocking and merchandising of bakery displays as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient department operations.
• Assist with special promotions, seasonal displays, and additional tasks as assigned by management.

The hourly wage for this position starts at $16.90 - $17.00 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.
