Job summary

Four Seasons Toronto, Café Boulud, is seeking a Part-Time Host who welcomes guests and manages reservations with OpenTable. You will seat guests with or without reservations, know the menus, and coordinate with servers to balance workload.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of Host experience, excellent English communication, and a flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. Smart Serve is a must, and legal work authorization in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of Host experience in a fast-paced food and beverage operation.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Additional language is an asset for career growth.
• Post-secondary education in Hospitality or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly, courteously, and with a smile using eye contact.
• Utilize OpenTable to take reservations and seat guests whether or not they have one.
• Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, and daily availability.
• Coordinate with servers on stations and workload capacity; know regular guests by name.
• Remain calm under pressure and adapt to flexible shifts, weekends and holidays.

About the role:

By nature of the position, the position is the guests' first impression of the restaurant and bar. They greet guests promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact and a smile. Utilizing Open Table, the individual takes reservations, reviews the daily reservation book and has the ability to seat guests with/without reservations. They have a complete working knowledge of the menus, menu ingredients and what is unavailable for that day. A principle role within the restaurant and bar, the Host is familiar with server stations, their daily assignments, their personal timing patterns and their maximum workload capacity. The Host is also familiar with frequent guests and knows their names and preferences.

What you will bring:

We are looking for individuals with excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills. Fluency in reading, writing, and spoken English is also required. The Host requires continuous standing for the majority of the shift. The ideal candidate will have a confident, outgoing personality and a can-do approach to any request! The ability to remain calm under pressure is essential and applicants must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work a variety of shifts, weekends and holidays.

Smart Serve certification is a must.

Preferred qualifications & skills:

• At minimum 1 year previous Host experience in a fast paced food and beverage operation
• Exceptional communication skills and command of English language
• Additional language a definite asset for career growth
• Completion of Post Secondary Education in Hospitality or related field.

The hourly rate of pay for this role is $21.53 plus gratuity.
