Job description

If you answered yes to these questions – you may be the person we are looking for! GeoVerra is seeking a talented CAD Technologist to join our dynamic and fast-paced Production team in Alberta.

The primary purpose of this role is the production of CAD drawings under the mentorship and guidance of the Team Leads. What you will do:

  1. Produce and maintain legal survey plans, municipal plans, civil plans, photo mosaics.
  2. Record drawings and manage the collection, analysis, storage, distribution, and application of spatial and three-dimensional data used in land development.
  3. Understand assignment requirements and allocate time appropriately to meet project deadlines.
  4. Self-check assignments before submitting drawings to the CAD Team Lead for final approval.
  5. Adhere to current CAD standards and provide feedback as needed.
  6. Follow departmental check sheets and workflow procedures.
  7. Ensure drawings meet client timelines and deliverables.
  8. Assist in the development of CAD standards and procedures.
  9. Support the CAD Team Lead in coordinating and mentoring junior staff regarding CAD standards and accuracy requirements.

What you will bring:

  1. Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline; or certification in CAD courses.
  2. 5+ years of experience drafting survey plans.
  3. Member in good standing or eligibility for registration with a local Survey or Technologist Association.
  4. Understanding of CAD requirements on various surveying projects.
  5. Proficiency in Windows, MS Office, latest versions of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Coordinate Geometry software.
  6. Knowledge of civil engineering design components, alignments, grading, volumes, and site construction works.
  7. Knowledge of legal plan requirements and the use of Land Title and Survey Authority website.
  8. A desire to learn and expand your skills on a variety of projects.
  9. A focus on maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, especially under strict deadlines.
  12. Ability to import field data and create survey plans.
  13. Understanding of technological basics and the ability to maintain high production levels.
  14. Ability to work independently with effective time management and organizational skills.
  15. Capacity to support and mentor team members.
