BBA Consultants is seeking a BIM/CAD Engineer to support engineering teams in modelling and coordinating digital models for mining and hydroelectric projects. You will ensure BIM/CAD standards are applied and that models and deliverables meet quality expectations.

You will work with tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD and Plant3D, and collaborate with English- and French-speaking teams across Canada. The role involves training and mentoring peers and advancing BIM best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or technical degree in engineering or related field with CAD/BIM experience.
• Experience with mining or hydroelectric project environments is preferred.
• Strong communication in English and French to collaborate across offices.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models for mining and hydroelectric projects.
• Set up and maintain federated site models with consistency across disciplines.
• Perform multidisciplinary clash detection across complex environments.
• Develop and update BIM/CAD templates, libraries and standards.
• Administer the common data environment and workflows (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud).
• Support teams in using CAD/BIM tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, Plant3D.

You’ll report to the Development Manager, CAD/BIM, and support the engineering teams in modelling and coordinating digital models for large-scale projects of all types (mining and hydropower sectors).

You’ll report to the Development Manager, CAD/BIM, and support the engineering teams in modelling and coordinating digital models for large-scale projects of all types (mining and hydropower sectors). You’ll ensure BBA’s BIM/CAD standards are applied, that model and deliverable quality is maintained and that CAD tools and the collaborative platform function properly.

• Coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models for mining and hydroelectric projects (process, mechanical, piping, structural, civil, electrical, ventilation and building disciplines)
• Set up and maintain federated site models, ensuring geometric and documentation consistency
• Perform multidisciplinary clash detection across disciplines in complex environments
• Develop, document and continuously update BIM and CAD templates, libraries and modelling standards tailored to multiple project types
• Administer the common data environment (CDE) for projects (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud), including folder structures, user access by team and discipline, and review and publication workflows
• Support engineering teams in using CAD and BIM tools, including AutoCAD, Smart3D, Revit, Civil 3D, CADWorx Plant, Navisworks and more
• Help prepare BIM deliverables requested by major clients across all industries
• Participate in internal training and provide ongoing coaching to teams for BIM best practices specific to mining and hydroelectric projects

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• Technical college diploma or university degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, industrial) or engineering technology, with CAD/BIM experience
• Experience working at a consulting engineering firm on mining and/or hydroelectric projects or a strong desire to specialize in these sectors
• Proficiency with the Autodesk Suite (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Plant3D)
• Solid understanding of mining and hydroelectric project life cycles (studies, detailed engineering, work site, rehabilitation, as-built)
• Ability to provide support and guidance, strong teaching skills and the ability to clearly explain BIM requirements to diverse project teams
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
• Asset: knowledge of Smart3D
