Job summary

Cabinet Expressions, a local cabinet manufacturer, is seeking a Finishing Assistant to support the finishing of custom cabinetry and millwork. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented with on-the-job training and growth opportunities.

The Finishing Assistant will prep surfaces, apply stains and sealers, repair imperfections, and help maintain a safe, organized work area while meeting production schedules. Training provided and full-time hours with benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in woodworking/cabinetry is an asset (training provided).
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Physically able to stand, lift, and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Sand, prepare, clean, and inspect raw wood components to prepare them for finishing.
• Staining & Sealing: Apply stains, sealers, and other treatments to enhance wood grain and match design specifications.
• Wood Repair: Identify and repair imperfections such as knots, cracks, and dents using fillers, putty, and other techniques.
• Quality Control: Ensure all pieces meet company standards before moving them to the finishing stage.
• Tool & Equipment Use: Safely operate sanders, spray equipment, and other finishing tools.
• Work Area Maintenance: Keep the finishing area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
• Scheduling: Adhere to deadlines for production schedules, maintain organization and cleanliness.
• Safety: Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Assist with other shop duties as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Finishing Assistant to support the preparation and finishing of custom cabinetry and millwork. This is a great opportunity for someone detail-oriented and eager to learn, with on-the-job training and growth opportunities available.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Full-time, Monday–Friday (7:30am–5:00pm), with every other Friday as a half day
  
• Shop environment (noise, dust, and equipment, PPE required)
  
• Benefits available after probation
  
• Wage: $20–$25/hour, based on experience
