What to expect in the role:
You will be working with a team in our "Community Access" program. On this team, you will be supporting a variety of individuals and could be working out in the community, in their homes, or in our main facility in the NE. You will be supporting individuals with Autism and OCD. You will follow the individualized support plans for each individual to help them work towards and achieve their goals. The individuals you work with may require personal care, g-tube feedings, and assistance with daily living tasks. You will also support individuals with anxiety by picking them up from their homes and driving them to their places of activities.

  • Provide medical, technological, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support
  • Drive to meet clients or transport clients to activities or appointments
  • Accompany individuals to activities and assist with daily needs/responsibilities such as employment, physical activity, grocery shopping, swimming, and house chores
  • Support clients with needs that could include personal care, g-tubes, or lifts
  • Participate in the research, development, and implementation of client programs
  • Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand client needs
  • Complete required client documentation effectively

Schedule & Compensation:

This position is based at our main facilities in Calgary Northeast and is a permanent role offering 33 hours per week with a starting pay rate of $21.19 per hour. The schedule is Monday to Friday rotating between 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. After a three-month probationary period, you will be eligible for cost-shared health and dental benefits along with 5 flex days. Since driving is required for this position, we reimburse mileage at $0.50/km.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services or Disability sector (equivalencies will be considered)
  • Intermediate computer skills and MS Office proficiency
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance by time of hire
  • Comfortable supporting individuals with diverse disabilities and complex diagnoses

Preferred Requirements:

  • One year of relevant experience in the human services field and/or prior experience in a fast-paced day program/outreach is preferred
  • Previous work experience in a group home would be an asset
  • Having a medical background - whether professional or academic
