Job description

Lethbridge School Division is accepting applications for a Caretaking position.

The Caretaker is responsible for completing cleaning duties to a high standard within the school. They report to the Head Caretaker or designate and must communicate positively with students, staff, and administration. The role involves minor adjustments to the building, working the evening shift during the school term, with periodic day shifts (rotation shift/non-instructional days), and working unsupervised for long periods. Physical health is essential due to demands like lifting, climbing, and handling chemicals.

The school is used by the community after hours, requiring staff to be aware of diverse user needs. Candidates should be team players and relate well to students.

Typical duties include:

  • Thorough cleaning of washrooms, fixtures, and shower areas
  • Washing desks, counters, doors, and windows
  • Dusting and floor maintenance (mopping, vacuuming, waxing)
  • Securing buildings, preventative maintenance, fire drills, changing lights
  • Snow and ice removal from walkways

Available Location:

  • Wilson Middle School - 1 Position - Hours: 7 hours/day, 35 hours/week, starting June 30, 2025

*Reassignment to other locations may occur based on Division needs.

Shift rotations are required between evening and day schedules, including during non-instructional periods like professional learning days and breaks, with specific rotation requirements for secondary and elementary schools.

Fitness and Abilities:

  • Valid ABSA 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or equivalent
