Reports to : Program Supervisor

Job Summary

The Clinical Support Worker (CSW) reports to the Program Manager and is a member of an integrated services team, combining clinical substance use, supportive housing, employment, educational and other services. The CSW provides a variety of day-to-day support to residents that are in early stabilization and recovery.

Responsibilities : Client Services

×Assist new intakes upon arrival, provide program orientation – go over house rules and show them their rooms

×Support clients with their recovery pre-established care plans by maintaining accurate logging and documentation as required by the Society and other stakeholders

×Support medication administration schedule and ensure accurate documentation for records

×Support proper reporting / documentation and collaboration for : suspected alcohol or drug use; clients who late for curfew and / or do not return home; escalating, unsafe behaviour; emergency medical situations; client requests to go to the hospital; and power failures, fire, or other emergency conditions which require staff supervision or consultation

×Monitor and assess resident behaviours and client movement in and out of the building. Report behaviours to management that poses a risk to the resident, other residents, staff and / or the community

×Monitor to ensure chores are done, residents follow the rules, maintain cleanliness, ensure they follow their stabilization plan.

×Resident meeting to go over the house rules, as needed

×Act as a positive role model for all residents. Promote effective social and interpersonal skills through tasks of healthy daily living and social activities

Administration

×Support administrative tasks including : photocopying; case documentation; database entry; filing; and answering phones

×Maintain cleanliness and organization

×Debrief with incoming shifts to ensure detailed transfer of information (e.g. concerns)

×Support a safe, well maintained and healthy building environment

×Complete regular rounds of facility as scheduled throughout shifts

×Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

×Grade 12

×Certificate in Community Social Service

×Recent, related experience of one year working with marginalized populations in the delivery of substance use services, mental health or equivalent

×Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required

×Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required

×Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required

×Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required

×First Aid 1 and Current CPR certificate is required

×Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required

Skills & Knowledge

×Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

×Experience using database management systems (e.g., electronic health records, enterprise resource planning, or customer relationship management)

×Knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment, including : telephone system, fax machine, photocopier, printer, etc.
