Job summary

Kaizen Lab Inc. is seeking a Program Assistant (Casual) to support daily facility operations and assist clients with life skills, information, resources and demonstrations in line with care schedules.

The role emphasizes safety, cleanliness and a well-maintained environment at The Nest. The position involves medication reminders, documentation, and participation in client-focused activities while coordinating with the Program Manager.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Windows, MS Word, Excel and database management systems.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and security monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide feedback on client needs and progress.
  • Assist clients with life skills such as hygiene, housekeeping and meal planning.
  • Administer medication and provide reminders according to policy.
  • Oversee client activities and record documentation.
  • Identify community resources to meet client needs.
  • Assist with daily living activities and accompany clients to appointments.
  • Complete rounds of the facility and report concerns.
  • Debrief with incoming shifts to ensure information transfer.

Job Summary:

The Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the facilityand supports clients byproviding a variety of day-to-day physical, emotional, and social supports,life skills assistance, information, resources, and demonstrations, inaccordance with pre-established care schedules. Works to ensure a safe, well maintained, and healthy environment.

Responsibilities:

Client Services

  • Providesfeedback and input regarding clients’ needs, performance, and progress
  • In accordancewith established care plans, assists clients with the development of lifeskills such as maintaining personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal planning andpreparation, meeting financial obligations, making and keeping appointments,and interpersonal skills by methods such as demonstrating and modelingappropriate actions
  • Administersmedication to clients and provides medication reminders, in accordance with established policy
  • Participates inand oversees various client-focused social and recreational activities
  • Identifiesavailable social, economic, recreational, and educational services andresources in the community that will meet clients’ needs. Provides clients withrelated information
  • Assists clientswith activities of daily living such as feeding, lifts and transfers, grooming,and toileting
  • Accompaniesclients on outings such as appointments, shopping, and leisure activities
  • Completes andmaintains related records and documentation such as statistics, progressreports, and daily logs
  • Receives clientfeedback, and inquiries and complaints, and responds as required
  • Performshousekeeping duties such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, dusting,washing dishes, and laundry
  • Required todebrief with incoming shifts to ensure detailed transfer of information (e.g.concerns)
  • Support a safe, wellmaintained and healthy building environment
  • Complete regular rounds offacility as scheduled throughout shifts
  • Providesdirection to volunteers as required

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • Certificate inCommunity Social Service.
  • 1 year of experience workingwith marginalized populations, substance use services, mental health,corrections, etc., or equivalent
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerablesector screening is required
  • Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screeningform is required
  • Satisfactory completion of Employee Immunization Record form is required
  • Satisfactory completion of Nonviolent crisis intervention (NVCI)
  • First Aid 1 and Current CPRcertificate is required
