The Team
The Surrey Newton Child and Youth Mental Health Team is a diverse and passionate group of professionals committed to supporting the mental well-being of children and youth. Our team includes experienced clinicians, a dedicated nurse, and an early childhood specialist who work together to provide vital mental health services. We partner closely with families and communities to create supportive environments for young people facing serious emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges. The Role
As a CYMH Clinician (Nurse), you’ll provide direct clinical services, including intake, assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention, to support children, youth, and their families. You’ll work closely with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other programs to ensure comprehensive care. Your work will have a lasting impact, as you build strong relationships with clients, families, and community partners to coordinate services, resolve conflicts, and influence positive outcomes. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
    • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Trained in evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and/or Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

There is one (1) regular/permanent full time vacancy in Surrey Newton.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the CYMH South Fraser Service Delivery area of Surrey.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
