Job description

WAAS Aerospace Inc. has been in operation since 2014 and is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). We operate from facilities located on the South Shore of Montreal at MET Montreal Metropolitan Airport (CYHU) and in Quebec City at Jean Lesage International Airport (CYQB).

We provide scheduled and line maintenance services, avionics modifications, and research and development services for business aircraft and large carriers. We offer 24/7 Aircraft on Ground (AOG) services to help customers meet their on-time departure obligations and minimize downtime.

Our parent company, Chrono Aviation, was founded in Quebec City in 2012. At its inception, the company operated a single Pilatus PC-12 and employed two pilots. Today, the Chrono Aviation Group boasts a fleet of 15 aircraft and a team of 250 employees.

Role and Context

The Buyer/Expeditor is responsible for the procurement of parts, equipment, and services required for aviation maintenance operations, as well as managing the shipment and receipt of goods. This role ensures resource availability while optimizing costs and adhering to established quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify and select suppliers that meet requirements for aviation parts and equipment.
  2. Negotiate purchasing conditions: prices, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  3. Place orders and monitor their progress until delivery.
  4. Coordinate shipments and receipt of goods, including preparing required documentation.
  5. Verify that received products meet specifications and quality standards.
  6. Manage inventory and ensure optimal stock rotation to avoid shortages or overstocking.
  7. Maintain up-to-date supplier and product databases.
  8. Collaborate with maintenance teams to anticipate procurement needs.
  9. Ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations regarding procurement and logistics.
  10. Resolve potential disputes with suppliers or transporters.

Position-Specific Requirements
  1. College or university degree in procurement, logistics, or a related field is an asset.
  2. Previous experience (3 to 5 years) in a similar role, preferably in the aviation sector.
  3. Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations related to aviation maintenance.
  4. Proficiency with inventory management software.
  5. Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
  6. Knowledge of shipping procedures and customs formalities is an asset.
  7. Ability to analyze procurement needs and plan accordingly.
  8. Proficiency in French is required for this position. In addition, advanced English proficiency is also required to interact with English-speaking clients in Canada and around the world.
