What You Would Do in This Role

The Buyer/Expeditor will perform procurement activities to ensure the timely purchase of materials and equipment to meet project requirements. Responsibilities include:

1. Working within a project team environment, potentially on multiple projects.
2. Ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while adhering to client requirements and procurement practices.
3. Maintaining status reports.
4. Preparing, issuing, and evaluating procurement documents, including bid lists, requests for quotation, and bid evaluations.
5. Purchasing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, structural steel, and piping materials and equipment.
6. Executing bidding strategies.
7. Creating and issuing purchase orders.
8. Assisting in negotiations of progress payments.
9. Developing and managing vendor/contractor relationships.
10. Assisting with expediting activities as needed.
11. Attending and managing purchase order kick-off meetings.
12. Performing local shop expediting visits as required.
13. Closing purchase orders.
14. Communicating with suppliers to resolve issues affecting purchase orders.
15. Reviewing invoices for accuracy.
16. Coordinating transportation and logistics as needed.
17. Performing other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Four years of purchasing experience.
• Willingness to perform expediting activities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment.
• Ability to work independently.

Preferred

• Experience with contracts.
• Post-secondary certification or equivalent.
• Five years of purchasing experience in an engineering, procurement, and construction environment.
