Manufacturing Unit Manager

Your role and responsibilities

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and ensuring that all materials, products, and supplies are acquired at the best possible cost, quality, and delivery time. This role involves supplier negotiation, purchase order management, and collaboration with internal teams to maintain optimal stock levels and support business operations.

  • Identify and source suppliers for raw materials, components.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery time (OTD).
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Identify new suppliers in accordance with ABB’s Policy.
  • Provide cost-saving recommendations.
  • Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Support audits and reporting requirements as needed.
  • Align with ABB’s core values of safety and integrity — that means taking responsibility for your own actions while also looking out for your colleagues and the company.

Qualifications For The Role

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a procurement, sourcing, or supply chain role.
  • Experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (bilingualism French-English). Le français est requis. L'anglais est nécessaire pour communiquer avec des clients à l’extérieur du Québec sur une base régulière.
