Job summary

Hypertec in Montreal is seeking a proactive Buyer to join our Purchasing team. You will develop strategies, negotiate terms, and build strong supplier relationships while collaborating with merchandising, sales, operations, and finance to maximize profitability.

The role requires 4+ years in purchasing or related fields, experience with ERP systems, and fluency in French and English. We offer a hybrid work model and comprehensive benefits to support your growth.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, merchandising, or category management, ideally within the distribution sector.
• Hands-on experience negotiating with suppliers.
• Strong understanding of margins, pricing, and purchasing costs.
• Experience with an ERP system or purchasing management platform.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• A collaborative approach and strong team spirit.
• High level of autonomy and a strong results-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, with English required to communicate with suppliers and partners in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate pricing, margins, discounts, promotions, payment terms, and other commercial conditions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and strategic partners.
• Identify new sources of supply and new business opportunities.
• Analyze sales, margins, costs, inventory turnover, and stock levels to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with merchandising, sales, marketing, operations, logistics, and finance teams.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Contribute to reducing stockouts, excess inventory, and procurement costs.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of purchasing processes and tools.

What You'll Be Contributing:
