There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Scotland West Division, located in Hamilton is looking to recruit a Buyer to join the Division’s Commercial department.

The Role

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the role of Buyer supports with the day to day management of procurement costs for the division, compliance with group purchasing arrangements, collection of rebates and the setting and monitoring of materials budgets to deliver the business unit output in the most timely, efficient and cost effective manner possible.

Principle Accountabilities Of The Role Include
  1. Ensuring competitive procurement of materials and plant as dictated by individual project specifications.
  2. Administering and assist with monitoring of Material Rebate claims.
  3. Monitoring supplier performance.
  4. Preparing Contract Material Budget.
  5. Monitoring and reporting on Material Budget as contract progresses.
  6. Issuing tender enquiries and analysing quotations.
  7. Preparing material take-off from contract drawings.
  8. Preparing material schedules on Excel for supplier and site use.
  9. Production of computer generated Purchase Orders.
  10. Issuing orders to enable waste management systems to be implemented on sites.
  11. Collating and submitting statistical analysis as required.
Experience
Qualifications And Training
  1. Current CSCS card or equivalent
  2. GCSE English and Mathematics grade A-C/4+ or equivalent
Skills and Aptitude
  1. Strong communication and listening skills
  2. Excellent attention to detail
  3. Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
  4. IT literate, proficient in MS Word and Excel with the ability to adapt to new systems
  5. Ability to work to deadlines under pressure
  6. Able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders at all levels
  7. Committed to diversity and inclusion
The Role and Working Conditions
  1. Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked
  2. Office based role, with travel within the Divisional area
  3. Ability to travel to development sites as and when required
