Position Summary : We are seeking a Buyer to ensure an uninterrupted supply of parts and materials for our manufacturing locations. The role includes maintaining data integrity in the procurement system, supporting planning of reduction goals and inventory targets, and aligning with the company's strategic pillars.
Primary Responsibilities : The Buyer will assist the Purchasing Manager in purchasing goods and services that meet quality, price, and delivery standards. Responsibilities include:
- Using MRP system (Visual Manufacturing) to review demand, plan orders, and assign costs.
- Ensuring timely delivery of parts by coordinating with manufacturing and suppliers.
- Following up on orders and confirming delivery dates.
- Updating purchase orders with accurate details and managing system data.
- Monitoring late orders and following up with vendors.
- Supporting other buyers and reporting material issues.
- Managing supplier relationships and communicating demand and risks.
- Participating in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
- Resolving invoice discrepancies and managing inventory levels.
- Understanding foreign exchange impacts and investigating inventory discrepancies.
- Generating reports for daily operations and supporting continuous improvement projects.
Educational Requirements :
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management in manufacturing.
- Knowledge of welding, machining, and fabrication manufacturing.
- Post-secondary education in Materials Management or Purchasing; certifications like NISCL or APICS preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with ROP, forecast buying, and lean methodologies is an asset.
