Position: Butcher in Training / Meat Cutter

The successful candidates would be self-motivated, possess strong learning agility and a passion to pursue a meat cutter career. The candidate will contribute to the profitability of the meat department through effectively maintaining consistent merchandising standards, quality product and above all, an exceptional service to our customers. Once this program is successfully completed, candidates will be placed in a location as a FT Meat Cutter.

The program consists of 400 training hours (4-6 months depending on your progress) and consists of the following:

  • On-the-job paid training and benefits after probationary period.
  • Competitive wage upon completion and room for advancement within the Company.
  • Training at several retail locations by experienced and qualified meat cutters.
  • Feedback provided on personal progress via assessments.

*Participants will be assessed based on skill, ability, competence, knowledge, adaptivity, availability and demonstrated willingness to learn

Key Responsibilities
  • Debones standard cuts of meat
  • Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat
  • Ensures product quality
  • Maintains a clean environment and follows all food safety rules and regulations
  • All other duties as assigned by Management
Requirements
  • Knife experience is an asset
  • Comfortable working with raw meat products (beef, pork, chicken)
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive work for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with assisting other departments as necessary
Working Conditions and Environment
