The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is an arm’s-length federal agency responsible for the shared stewardship of the lands and waters of the Port of Vancouver, Canada's largest port. The Senior Business Analyst – Information Services collaborates with business stakeholders and technology teams to develop business and functional requirements, guiding projects from inception to completion.

This role involves business analysis, project management of complex projects, implementation, and providing technical support for technology solutions.

The analyst will coordinate cross-functional teams to map and resolve business issues, develop requirements, work plans, technical specifications, perform system and user testing, prepare documentation, and train users.

Responsibilities include :

  • Providing input for business and project planning, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Developing maintenance and upgrade plans for major applications.
  • Working with customers to validate requirements.
  • Utilizing artifacts like BRDs, JIRA, data analysis, and documentation.
  • Determining system needs to meet project deliverables.
  • Creating technical specifications and participating in implementation and transition phases.
  • Developing and conducting user and support training.
  • Overseeing consultants and ensuring change management procedures.
  • Participating in project close-out and lessons learned activities.
  • Identifying integration opportunities and resolving data issues.
  • Designing system specifications and documenting processes.
  • Developing testing plans and ensuring quality delivery.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Interacting with users to anticipate needs.
  • Supporting the evaluation and acquisition of new systems.
  • Preparing RFPs and requirement specifications.

Qualifications include :

  • Post-secondary degree in relevant fields.
  • At least five years of experience in business analysis, project management, and requirements gathering.
  • Experience with agile and waterfall methodologies, proficiency in Visio, Jira, SharePoint, MS Project.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Professional development in Business Analysis (certification preferred).
  • Software development experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Self-motivated team player with a customer service focus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
