About Raising The Village

Raising The Village (RTV) is an international development organization working to end ultra‑poverty in last‑mile rural communities across sub‑Saharan Africa. Our 24‑month universal graduation programs combine targeted material support with agency‑building interventions to help households move durably out of ultra‑poverty.

About The Venn Platform

RTV is investing in the next generation of Venn, an integrated platform for program delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

What sets Venn apart is its unique ability to unify two critical domains:

  • Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL): The measurement frameworks, indicators, instruments, and learning loops that drive continuous program improvement.
  • Systems: The applications, data infrastructure, and data science capabilities that power and operationalize those frameworks.

Getting this platform right has direct consequences for program delivery at scale across multiple countries.

Position Overview

As the Venn platform scales across multiple countries and partner organizations, RTV needs a Business Systems Analyst to serve as the connective tissue between technical teams and program stakeholders. The Business Systems Analyst ensures RTV's internal platforms, workflows, and data systems are technically coherent, scalable, and aligned with program logic. This role translates business requirements into system‑ready specifications, working closely with the BA, Platform Architect, Data Engineering, MEL, and Applied Learning teams.

Within this partnership, the Business Analyst owns business requirements definition, while the Business Systems Analyst owns technical specification, system logic, and data design. Venn operates in low-connectivity, resource-constrained environments across multiple countries, so specifications must account for offline‑first workflows, constrained infrastructure, and program variations across countries and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Systems Analysis & Technical Requirements
  • Convert BA‑defined business requirements into clear, structured technical specifications.
  • Define system logic, data flows, integration points, and edge‑case handling.
  • Ensure requirements are feasible, consistent, and aligned with RTV's architecture.
  • Maintain technical documentation for workflows, catalogues, and platform components.
  • Data Modeling & Platform Logic
  • Design and validate data structures, schemas, and relationships.
  • Ensure business rules and operational logic are accurately represented in the system.
  • Collaborate with data teams to ensure pipelines and transformations reflect requirements.
  • Ensure data structures and workflows support offline‑first operation in low-connectivity environments.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Business Analysts and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are complete and logically sound.
  • Work with architects to validate alignment with system design and governance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify requirements and support build feasibility.
  • Integration & Workflow Mapping
  • Map and validate integrations between systems and components.
  • Define API requirements, triggers, and data exchange rules.
  • Identify system dependencies and ensure they are documented and communicated.
  • Quality Assurance & UAT Support
  • Define acceptance criteria and test scenarios for engineering teams.
  • Support UAT by validating that the system behaves according to requirements and business rules.
  • Identify defects, gaps, or inconsistencies and work with engineering to resolve them.
  • Governance & Scalability
  • Ensure system logic is consistent across countries, tenants, and program variations.
  • Maintain change control and documentation standards for catalogues, metadata, and configuration rules.
  • Support scaling by validating system readiness and configuration requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in systems analysis, technical requirements gathering, or enterprise workflow design.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business and program requirements into structured, buildable technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, system logic, and integration patterns.
  • Working knowledge of data engineering concepts and cloud platforms.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and process maps using recognized documentation standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent requirements streams and maintain coherence across them.
  • Strong facilitation skills; comfortable leading sessions with diverse stakeholder groups including senior leaders and technical specialists.
  • Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools such as Jira, ClickUp, or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice-to-have
  • Familiarity with multi-tenant platforms, metadata-driven systems, and workflow engines.
  • Experience supporting platforms in international development, nonprofit, or low-connectivity contexts.
