WAM Engineering Investments, an organization within WAM Engineering, is dedicated to providing support to SAM’s front office team.

This newly created role will support the future growth of the SAM business. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the SAM organization, which is focused on Schwab’s proprietary ETF, Mutual Fund, and SMA products. Supported business functions span SAM’s equity portfolio management and equity trading teams. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s SAM business and their clients.

What you have:

This role requires a highly motivated, organized, and business-focused analyst with a proven record of delivery. You have a desire to continuously improve a highly customized technology stack that is critical to SAM’s competitive advantage in the asset management industry. You thrive working in a team environment, both with technical and business partners, while being a self-motivated problem solver.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical processes to business stakeholders and to create actionable user stories for the software developers
  • Documented experience writing SQL queries and understanding of complex data structures of financial data (security master, etc)
  • Ability to test new code and provide constructive feedback to the development team
  • Experience supporting portfolio managers and/or traders across third-party and custom applications and being able to troubleshoot complex issues encountered
  • Recent experience working in Agile (Scrum or Kanban) teams, as both a practitioner and an adherent, using Jira/Confluence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SDLC and DevOps
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of ownership and determination to drive solutions in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with all types of stakeholders, both technical and business, peers, and leaders
