The Business Support Specialist will handle Customs Business Implementations across Canada, including end to end EDI Integrations. The role will lead, coordinate, and support the implementation and re-engineering of accounts.

The role will ensure that customer’s needs and expectations are met throughout the implementation phase and start of service including technical implementations of visibility tools for existing clients.

The role will act as a facilitator for the review of existing accounts and operational processes across the various Customs Brokerage teams to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement and business optimization.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead Customs Brokerage Client implementations – from pre-award of business through to hyper care and audit.
  2. Liaise with DSV account representatives and customers to explore opportunities, capture client expectations, define timelines and responsibilities for onboarding of the account.
  3. Develop detailed implementation plans, create SOP and IOP (as required).
  4. Coordinate system and SOP training for operational units.
  5. Assist IT with gathering system requirements and coordinating system integration between the customer/vendor and DSV (EDI integrations).
  6. Ensure that DSV offices/agents understand the specific account requirements/expectations and follow-up with appropriate corrective action when needed.
  7. Create flowcharts and contact lists that clearly show ownership and escalation paths for handover to the Operational Departments once client onboarding is complete.
  8. Identify and support the development of metrics/measurement tools according to the customer’s requirements and DSV’s capabilities (i.e. ITMR4, CargoWise1 reports, PowerBI, myDSV).
  9. Ensure that business impact of projects is properly managed and communicated to the account stakeholders.
  10. Support post-go live operations as required by the customer or DSV.
  11. Review procedures of existing accounts to identify & recommend opportunities for business and process optimization, working with Descartes and other partners.
  12. Coordinate and support operational projects as assigned by line manager.
  13. Perform UAT for EDI Integrations.
  14. Assist in integration activities as and when needed.
  15. Hold demos and provide training on the following: Shipments Portal, ITMR.
  16. Sign clients up on Shipments Portal.

  1. Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification.
  2. Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  1. A minimum of five years international transportation industry experience.
  2. Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.
  3. CCS, CIFFA certificate, an asset.

  11. Ability and motivation to deliver results in a complex environment with many stakeholders.
  12. Ability to multi-task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve results.
  13. Both a team builder and a team-player.
Language and Computer Skills
  1. English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
  3. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  4. IT (Information Technology) and EDI (Electronic Data Interface) knowledge, is required.
  5. ITMR experience, required.
Physical Demands
  1. Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Occasional travel may be required.
  3. Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
