The Position:

Supports the Giraffe Sales Team in the management of assigned accounts to ensure customer needs are met, Symrise/Giraffe customer relationships are optimized, and growth strategies are achieved. Engages and manages customer relationships both internally and externally as necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Essential Functions include:

  • Account Coordination and Support
  • Supports Global, Regional, and National Account Managers in the management of selected Symrise/Giraffe accounts in North America. Account management includes all aspects of business support including assistance with projects, sample coordination, document requests, pricing assistance, and other customer requests.
  • Responsible for the collection and distribution of all information required by customers. This can vary depending on the product type including flavors, ingredients, and/or finished products. Examples may include specs, kosher, SDS, allergens, nutritional's questionnaires, portals, etc. Interacts with all departments on critical documentation issues while managing timelines.
  • Acquires access and completes requests in customer portals as needed.
  • Assists with pricing requests, initiatives, and negotiations for selected accounts. This could include co-packer pricing, reviews of expired pricing, sending letters and system loads.
  • Assists with the setting up of new approved customers ensuring that Symrise/Giraffe requirements are understood, and necessary documents, customer accounts, system set up, etc. are completed.
  • Arrange all repeat samples and/or ASRDs. This includes entry into the appropriate systems and coordination with the sample labs, follow-ups, timeline management, and customer communications for status updates.
  • Large trial order execution, review, and collaboration with Customer Service as warranted. This may also include discussions with Planning and the Commercialization Project Lead as necessary.
  • Responsible for documentation review and sign off on New Business Alerts, as well as entry of NBAs for House Accounts were needed.
  • Visits the customers and participates during in-house visits with the Account Managers as requested.
  • Maintains account contact lists and coordinates communications with these customers as necessary.
  • Has a complete understanding of business processes and procedures.
  • Functions as the main contact internally for all House Accounts.

Project Coordination

  • Attend regular account team meetings to discuss customers and projects in the pipeline with assigned Account Managers on a regular basis.
  • Supports execution of briefs which includes entry, monitoring of project timelines, coordination of project meetings, in the absence of their Account Managers Performs these functions for all House Accounts assigned to them.
  • Participates in project tastings.
  • Attend project meetings and Business Unit internal meetings as required.
  • Maintains accounts, contacts, and Account Manager information in our systems.
  • Communicate regularly with several internal departments including Flavorists, BUs
  • (Applications and Category Leaders), QC, Regulatory, QA, Commercialization Project Lead, etc. on behalf of the Account Manager throughout the project lifecycle if needed.
  • In conjunction with Account Managers, manages projects from inception to close of sale.
  • Ensures customer project requirements/ restrictions are current in our systems.
  • Monitor timelines for House Account projects.

Account Management

  • Manages the Symrise House Accounts segment for assigned customers.
  • Works with the Pricing Department/ Finance Teams on pricing requests.

Flavors:

  • May be required to calculate, or just send prices provided for all House Accounts. This includes notifications to customers on any mid-year, and yearly price increases. Enters budget for these accounts as needed.

Finished Goods and Ingredients:

  • Submit price updates to customers. This information will be provided to the team by those responsible for the setting of said pricing for those areas of the business.

Special Projects

  • Supports the Sr. Manager of Business Support and VP/Director of Sales as needed. Participates in any special projects as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager

Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business/Marketing or related field.
  • Industry experience of 3 to 5 years in a sales support or customer service environment
  • Technical knowledge of the flavor, ingredient or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ERP and CRM systems is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to communicate with a wide variety of departments and management levels, including international colleagues, and external companies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers daily in person, via phone/virtual meetings, and electronically.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, critical and proactive thinking, as well as problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of leadership, teamwork and project management skills is required.
  • Must have a high comfort level working in multiple systems.
  • Proficient in processing, monitoring, and tracking projects, samples, and documents through completion.
  • Organizational skills are a must, along with the ability to prioritize.
  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
